Have you wondered how to sing and play drums at the same time? You should! More and more drummers are being asked (if not required) to sing backup vocals and harmonies at the gig. This adds to the overall experience of the show and, in the end, will make you so much more valuable to the band.

There are a few obstacles to consider and overcome while learning how to sing and play drums at the same time. First of all, you need to be able to hear yourself! Let’s be honest, drummers are loud. So how do you ensure you can hear your voice amidst all the noise? Second, you already have 4 limbs to worry about while playing drums and it’s not just as simple as adding a 5th element to your performance. So how can you ensure that your drumming doesn’t suffer when you add that next layer? Third, drumming is intense! And while you’re singing you are limiting the time you would normally allot to breathing. In short, how can you ensure you have enough breath and energy for both?

In this lesson, we will discuss each of these obstacles in-depth and show you how to overcome them.
